What is it?
HITS Europe Summit is an annual conference hosted by the Media and Entertainment Alliance Europe, focusing on current technical developments changing the way of creating, managing and distributing creative content. Participants are senior managers from the media and entertainment industry, including companies such as BBC, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures Entertainment or 20th Century Fox. The Hollywood IT Society (HITS) focuses on the impact of Information Technology on the entertainment industry.

What is it? One of the biggest and most renowned journalism festivals in the world. An ideal place to meet for reporters, storytellers, media scholars, media project managers, digital innovators. Keynotes and workshops are free of charge.

Why are we there? Short answer: It’s one of those must-attend events (300+ speakers from 50 countries, 700+ sessions/talks/workshops). Longer answer: We’ll exchange ideas with colleagues from all over the world, and DW (Research & Cooperation projects and other departments) will extensively contribute to the festival’s program again:

NEM stands for “New European Media”. The primary aim of the NEM Initiative is to provide a platform that fosters “the convergence among media, content, creative industries, social media, broadcasting and telecom sectors, as well as consumer electronics to develop a common innovation environment for the new European media landscape.” Every year, NEM hosts a big event: the NEM Summit.

What is it?

The ICT Proposers’ Day 2017 is, according to the organizers, a networking event that “centres on European ICT Research & Innovation with a special focus on the Horizon 2020 Work Programme for 2018-20.” It focuses on the European Commission’s upcoming Calls for Proposals (in 2018) and is an excellent meeting place for academics, researchers, industry experts and administrators (e.g. from government, the European Commission and national agencies) from all over Europe.

Meet us at VR Pop-up Week and VR Conference 2017

What is it?

VR Pop-up Week = seven days full of virtual reality madness in the heart of Kreuzberg. There will be (spontaneous) workshops, showcases, beer, and nerd talk. VR Pop-up Week is very informal and free of charge. This is a VR playground.
VR Conference = a one day event that brings together all kinds of VR enthusiasts (journalists, storytellers, media innovators, techies) to share experiences and seek inspiration. This is much more structured and focused, and you will need to purchase a ticket.
