To celebrate 15 months of fruitful collaboration and the refined features of 360/VR storytelling platform Fader/VRAppr, Deutsche Welle, Euronews, and Vragments released two new Fader stories in Berlin last week. The pieces called “Copenhageners” and “remembrance is real” premiered at VR Pop 18, an immersive storytelling workshop and meeting hosted by the consortium during re:publica. We are thrilled to present them on our blog now.

While Fader the VR/360 platform will (hopefully) be around for a long, long time, Fader the consortium (DW, Euronews, Vragments) is about to disband in a couple of weeks. That’s because the Fader/VRappr DNI project is running out. Of course, we’re going to have a grand finale!

Blockchain, Bitcoin, Ethereum, smart contracts. If you haven’t been living under a rock the last couple of years, you have probably heard media and tech people mention these buzzwords all the time. A hype is not a meaningful application, though. Here is our take: Blockchain technologies are by and large a new approach to databases or ledgers. Their most important aspect: The entries can be trusted, as they are virtually unalterable and everyone can check them. Hopefully.

DW Research and Cooperation Projects team wins prize for “Best Editorial Tool” at BBC SUMMA newsHACK
The latest installment of the BBC newsHACK, held in London on November 22nd and 23rd, saw DW innovation team members Hina Imran and Olga Kisselmann win a prize in the category “Best Editorial Tool”. They had developed a very useful Slackbot for SUMMA data.
