Meet us @ DW GMF2015

Media and Foreign Policy in the Digital Age

GMF 2015When: 22 – 24 June 2015
Where: World Conference Center, Bonn, Germany

What is it?
The Global Media Forum is Deutsche Welle’s yearly main media conference. It is organized and lead by Deutsche Welle focusing on the media’s role in the world. Every year it attracts more than 2,000 participants from around the world bringing together experts from the fields of media, politics, culture, business, development cooperation and academia. Together they discuss and design approaches to meeting the challenges of globalization in which the media play a central role. Many organizations and institutions are directly involved in the panel discussions, workshops, interactive presentations and exhibitions.

This years event is focused on Media and Foreign Policy in the Digital Age and will offer keynotes by e.g. Günther Oettinger, current EU – Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society and Prof. Monika Grütters, Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. Furthermore there will be workshops and panel discussions on e.g. the „preservation of the freedom of speech“ or the „combat of extremism in social media“ but also on many other interesting topics.

Why are we there?
Being part of Deutsche Welle, we will participate in the Global Media Forum to present our work to a larger, international audience of experts and possible users. Our booth will showcase the work we do in the European FP7 and Horizon2020 context, as well as the projects we do in cooperation with other departments within Deutsche Welle. This includes hands-on presentations of project-prototypes, such as the REVEAL ‘Social Media Verification’ Application, the MultiSensor GUI or the AXES Archiving solution, as well as a first glimpse of our Virtual Reality Journalism experiment.

If you are not able to join us, do not worry: all of our team will be present both at our booth as well as the conference, giving you insights from the different activities through our DW Innovation Twitter channel. You can also follow the hashtag #GMF15 to keep an eye on the general discussion throughout the three conference days.
