New video: Explore digital archives visually
Tired of prolonged searches and fast forwarding while looking for the right video segment? You want to be able to find variations of a certain image? Use novel search techniques like speech recognition, face detection and similarity search in order to quickly find what you are looking for!
The clip shows the vision of AXES. A key aspect of this EU project is to detect and extract visual data such as faces, objects, places and events.
So, if you look for a bicycle riding on the Berlin Wall during the night of the reunification, just type in: “Bicycle on the Berlin Wall” to get matching results based on visual detection. Besides visual elements, also spoken words can be found. The search for the famous phrase “Ich bin ein Berliner” will directly lead you to the sequence where Kennedy spoke these words. No need to fast forward through a video to come to the right shot!
AXES brings together experts from various domains such as media companies, user partners and technology providers to develop new engaging ways to interact with audiovisual libraries, helping users to discover, browse, navigate, search and enrich archives.
