Kill the rapist

How does one vent anger against rapists? Sanjay Chhel decided to make a movie which is being released on December 16, exactly one year after the terrible rape incident in New Delhi shocked India and the rest of the world.

Chhel’s Facebook page says that the movie is not based on the Delhi incident and is a motivating film aiming to empower women worldwide. Agency reports say that the film explores women’s “revenge fantasies.” On Facebook, the producers of “Kill the rapist” claim that “we want every rapist to shiver with fear before even thinking of rape, after this movie.”

Producer Sidharth of iRock India studios tweets:

What do you think? Is barbarism the only answer to such atrocity? Especially since change comes about at a very slow pace in India.

And finally, how do men in India see the problem? According to a report by the New York Times, “In fact, many men attribute the rape problem to vertiginous social change that has created new temptations at a faster rate than the new habits to cope with them.”
