Hi Pavel,
In general, you are right: There is a greater variety of activities in big cities than in small ones. But I have the feeling that in small towns you have more clubs - for which you only have to pay a smal member fee - compared to the number of inhabitants than in big cities where you often have commercial offers. At least it is like this my home town. Probably it also depends on the demographic nature of the people who live there: If all of the young ones have moved away, there aren't enough who have the energy to lead clubs and associations. But I think as long as the young ones are left, clubs are quite active in small towns because people can't choose as freely what to do on the weekend in the absence of bars and dancing clubs. Yet, today, young people often drive to bigger cities to go out on the weekend.

Kathrin, thanks a lot for the entry - it's very interesting to know more about youth clubs in Germany!
Can you tell whether the choice of clubs in little cities also smaller?
Because in Russia the situation is different - big cities offer a great variety of clubs and activities but there's a significant lack of such things in small towns - that influences the teenagers' lives in a negative way.
The situation is changing, of course - not due to the government's efforts but mostly due to private initiative.
