With the global financial crisis, a lot of people's attention has been directed away from the climate issue. They don't realize that new technologies to combat climate change can be money-spinners or that it will cost us much more if we don't take action to curb global warming now. For me there was no other option but Obama. But I don't think he can work miracles.

I was delighted that both candidates acknowledged that climate change was an important issue for the future of the U.S. How times have changed since the days when the many politicians wouldn't even acknowledge that climate change was a problem! I think that rapid change of philosophy is due to Al Gore's hard work in bringing Climate Change to the forefront of U.S. politics. Environmental policy was a huge decision making factor for my vote, and I can't wait to see what positive changes our new president makes to improve the health of our planet!

I think in this election, climate policy was blended into the candidate's entire world view and policy package. Now that the debate in the U.S. has moved a lot more toward what should be done or not done about climate change, rather than arguing whether or not it is happening... well, how each candidate views the world and engaging in diplomacy will really determine what he will do about climate change. That and the make up of Congress. So, it mattered in my vote, but as part of the whole package rather than a starkly singular issue.
