The man she was engaged to use to cheat, hit her and force sex upon her. I love this girl to death and now she is back in Dhaka but her parents do not approve of us and even though they know that this man was cheating, hitting her and raping her they still are trying to force her to marry him. I know this is not my culture and I don’t mean to offend anyone but GROW UP and realize it is not about you and your wealth. Your daughter’s happiness should overpower your selfish attempt for social status. Be real men and fight for freedom for your children’s future and so forth. Put your pride aside and think with your mind and soul.

Well written. Keep up with the awareness drive WomenTalkOnline. We need to learn to accept the issues with our cultures, whose who don’t are living in a ‘lala’ land. They need to wake up as a problem can only be solved if it is accepted and identified.

You appear to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in
it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to
drive the message home a little bit, but other than
that, this is excellent blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.

To me your comment on this issue makes no sense as the entire civilised First World is engaged in it. There is nothing wrong about what is happening in Bangladesh too if this is ok in the UK. In the west we engage in this act immorally… unlawfully, then leave her for another girl to do the same again, breaking her heart and leaving her to cry. At least in Bangladesh it is happening with a legal marriage contract system that provides some form of protection for the girl, just because you are married does not mean that is the end of everything, you can still do studying, partying, the good thing about marriage is you will not be engaging in unlawful sex, instead you be doing it legally and enjoyably without any worries and everybody’s blessing…..
