I totally agree with Medha Patkar. The issue is pretty serious and government can’t intervene inside the family structure to formulate laws and bewitch all!!
It needs serious consideration to work out norms for a better society and not divide the family!

I agree with Medha Patkar.. its a disgrace to women to table this bill. How can you compensate human values with money?.. As rightly said by Sudipto Basu.. its same as compensating a woman with money for being raped..

@ Sumana Saha: I just request you to see the picture above, where the mother is fondling her baby. She is doing this out of her love, care and affection. According to you how much should the father of this baby pay the mother for fondling his child? How much should she be paid to pack his meals and send him to work? Can you or the government whom you think so sensible fix her remuneration? This is just an example. There are millions and billions of mothers and wives in the Indian households who regularly do this job out of sheer love and affection. Think rationally and please don’t bring money within relationships.

Now will divorce cases be settled by civil courts or consumer courts? what will constitute deficiency of service and who will decide what is deficient and what is the definition of service/task/job. can salary of wife be cut if she refuses to give tea to husband. and how many teas would constitute proper work done satisfactorily that earns the wife salary for the day. questions abound. quite foolish of the government to step into the husband-wife equation thus.

Paying housewives for doing household jobs is an idea as inhuman and foolish as compensating a woman wth money for being raped…as said by mamata baneerjee…….its her home…why on earth shuld she be paid its upkeeping?….the sacred bond of marraige is being denied in many ways now….but lets not bring it down to this cheap a level,…its a joint responsibilty of a husband and wife to run a home …both shuld work in and out of it for maintaining it…in many cases the duty is dichotomised,but the fact remains that it is the holy home our life we r dedicating our time and strenghth for ……………pyaar mein sauda nahin..

I totally disagree with Medhaji. This bill may not suit the middle class and the upper middle class as the husbands in this group share with their wives their salaries. But for poor families this will ensure that husbands can not just spent money on their drinking habits!
