On a Saturday afternoon Women Talk Online blogger Debarati Mukherjee got out on the streets and decided to speak to the first five women she met, including a cook, a cleaning maid and a media professional. She asked them what they wanted out of their lives and got some very interesting answers.

Sookanya Sengupta Dasgupta, Special Skills Trainer, says, “I want to enhance my career to the highest level and have a good family life with my husband. I look forward to making a heaven of my own where I will be showered with love from my husband and my kid. I also wish that whenever I have a kid, my kid too becomes successful in life.”

Saraswati, works as a cook in different households, says, “I am not blessed with the power of education, so I want life to help me educate my children and make them respectable citizens. My daughter is 12 years old now. When she turns 18, I want her to get married to a good man who will keep her happy. Finally, I want life to give me that strength and courage so that I can compensate my late husband’s presence in their lives.”

Anita Gokshe, who works as a cleaning maid, says, “I want to get a regular flow of work so that I can make ends meet for my family. I want to send my children to school and I pray to God that my family prospers always. I don’t have a house of my own yet, I want to build a house someday somewhere. I wish that my husband gets better work so that our income increases.

Manju Mukherjee, who works in a bank, says, “I want a clean corruption-free society where children can learn good virtues and grow up as respectable and responsible citizens of the country. I want my son to grow up and be a man of repute. I wish more and more children are awakened by the power of knowledge so that my country progresses to a higher level.”

I also want to be a good mom who can give her daughter her complete undivided attention for her well-being.”
