Guarding the border between India and China

Women have now shouldered equal responsibilties with men, and this is quite evident in the Indian security forces. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force is the last of the Central Armed Police Forces to induct women officers in combat roles after the government first allowed it to enroll them in 2016.

Now, the women officers of ITBP guarded the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China.

LAC was raised in 1962 in the aftermath of Chinese aggression.

These are ITBP officers who are deployed in the area of Mirthi which comes under the district of Pithoragarh in the Indian State of Uttrakhand.

This is the first time India has deployed women troops right at the front, atleast on the one which is considered to be the most arduous and tricky given the harsh climatic conditions and extreme mountainous.
