We have heard about women in some countries who are accused of being witches. In most cases they are not more than innocent and socially very vulnerable women, whose situations have been taken advantage by a community that needs somebody to be blamed for any kind of misfortune. These women are often humiliated, tortured, and killed. Imagine all of those horrible things happening to children. Yes, even a two-year-old boy can be accused of being a witch. We say thank you for your comments that condemn this kind of practice!

Women are victims of 80% of the roughly 1,500 acid attacks reported globally each year, says London-based charity Acid Survivors Trust International. These cowardly moves are meant to maim, disfigure or blind the victims. It is an atrocious act to cause shame, pain and suffering for other people. (From June 12, 2015)

Forget the Kamasutra, buy a book on self-defence

There are several souvenir shops at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi where tourists can buy books and models of the Taj Mahal and autorickshaws as souvenirs of their trip to the subcontinent. The Kamasutra, the ancient Sanskrit guide to sexual behavior, used to be one such book which a lot of foreign tourists liked to take back home from India. Now, after the brutal rapes the country has witnessed, everyone seems to be asking the same question: how could such horrific acts of sexual violence occur in a country where the Kamasutra was written?
