10 Best Paying Jobs for Women 2015

Every year Forbes released a list of the top moneymaking jobs for women. The list for 2015 has just been released.

Every year Forbes releases a list of the top moneymaking jobs for women. It is based on the data from U. S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Forbes tracked the median weekly earnings of full-time wage and salary workers in 2014, broken down by gender and occupation, and excluding occupations that employed less than 2,000 women last year. The list for 2015 has just been released; and science, math, engineering are in the top ten. Those are actually disciplines which are classical male domains. So if you are now looking for the right subject to study at the university, you might want to consider this. What about all of you who are studying humanities? Well, maybe next year.

1. Sales engineer. This job relies heavily on technical information. So a sales engineer is a salesperson that understands and can apply engineering knowledge; and she is an engineer that understands how to sell engineered systems as well.  The approximate median annual earnings are the best, $134,472. In this profession about 5% are women. Earnings as percentage of men’s earnings: 136%.

2. Miscellaneous Math and Science Occupations. This category is quite abstract and can include many professions related to the sciences, not necessarily scientist. For example: mathematical researcher, scientific illustrator, science teacher. The approximate median annual earnings: $128,908, and women as percentage of the profession: 67%.

3. Astronomer & Physicist. Who do you think of, when you think of astronomer? Galileo Galilei was an astronomer. He is often referred to as the Father of Modern Astronomy. Women must have made progress in the career front if this is now one of the best jobs for women. You might say it moved at a snail pace since Galileo Galilei time in the 16th century, but this is only one of the fields in which women are moving forward. Approximate median annual earnings: $118,768; and women as percentage of the profession: 25%.

4. Nurse Anesthetist. In general the career forecast for nurses is quite promising since the population ages and nurses can also work in rehabilitation and long-term care facilities, schools and corporations. The approximate median annual earnings is $114,452, and 63% of nurses are women. Their earnings as percentage of men’s earnings: 81%.

5. Petroleum Engineer. People working in this area are involved in nearly all of the stages of oil and gas field evaluation, development and production. Petroleum engineers are divided into several groups: petroleum geologists, reservoir engineers, production engineers and drilling engineers. The approximate median annual earnings: $104,988.

6. Pharmacists. They do more than just selling drugs. They have to check for any possible interactions with other medicines or medical conditions. They also have to instruct patients on how to take the medicines and what to do if certain effects occur. Approximate median annual earnings: $98,904. Women as percentage of the profession: 52% , and earnings as percentage of men’s earnings: 87%.

7. Upholsterer. As upholsterer a woman would work with furniture. It is the padding and covering of of a piece of furniture. Approximate median annual earnings: $95,368. Women as percentage of the profession: 9%.

8. Helper, Construction Trades. This can also include several jobs, such as electrician, carpenter and carpet layer. The approximate median annual earnings: $92,508. Women as percentage of the profession: 4%.

9. Nuclear Technician. A nuclear technician assists physicists, engineers and other professionals in nuclear research and nuclear production. To be able to work as nuclear technicians, typically one has to have degree in nuclear science or nuclear-related technology. The approximate median annual earnings: $91,208; and women as percentage of the profession: 100%

10. Architectural & Engineering Managers. These people are responsible for planning and managing the overall product schedule and requirements. They also have to define the product strategy and roadmap. Approximate median annual earnings: $90,168. Women as percentage of the profession: 6%.

According to a report from the White House Council of Economic Advisor, which was released October 2014, women are the primary breadwinner in almost one third of dual-income couples. This shows that women are getting more empowerment these days. But according to Forbes the rate of women in the workforce stagnated in the 1990s, and women only earn about 0,78 dollars for every dollar a male counterpart brings home. Let’s see, maybe next year it will be better.
