India’s topmost court has ruled that an unwed mother can be the sole legal guardian of her child and refuse to divulge the identity of the child’s father. The landmark ruling was welcomed by women’s rights activists. Read more here.

Abortion pills delivered by drones

A Dutch non profit campaign group, “Women on Waves” has used drones to deliver abortion pills to two women in Poland who have no access to such pills under Poland’s restrictive abortion laws. Rebecca Gomperts is Women on Waves’ director and campaigns for women’s rights and she was at the launch site in Germany, near the Polish border. Read more here.
