Ciao clichés: Showing Paris the real face of Romania
When Madalina moved from Bucharest to Paris, she fell in love with the city. But she was so disturbed by the stereotypes she encountered that she founded a project to introduce real Romanians to their Parisian neighbors.
The initiative, Je suis roumain (aussi) – I’m Romanian too – breaks down stereotypes by helping Parisians get to know who the local Romanian immigrants really are. One of them, artist Dan Perjovschi, recently joined the campagne with an installation the Immigration Museum.

Comedian and actress tackles racism with humor in NYC
Forget the “Shit Girls Say” Youtube meme. American comedian and actress Francesca Ramsay a.k.a. Chescaleigh’s parody spanning a mere two minutes got over nine million hits. Infusing humor into the serious issue of race relations in America, she’s encouraging others to speak out.

Being black in Brazil
Brazilians with an African background deal with racism and a lack of representation. Roberta heads a small NGO that works to reaffirm Afro-Brazilian identity, build girls’ self-esteem and discuss prejudice in daily life.
