United Nation General Assembly has declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child (#dayofthegirlchild). This way the UN recognizes the special challenges many girls around the world are facing and stresses the importance of the fight of girls’ rights. For this we compiled tweets with information about girls’ education in many countries, the celebration of the Day of the Girl Cild and news about girls that made it to the headlines.

Female migrants coming to Europe are exposed to physical and sexual violence while living in cramped shelters with other refugees. But cultural prejudices and trauma make it difficult for them to talk about abuse.

As thousands of refugees keep ariving in Germany, the DW takes a look at women who undertake the long and arduous journey from their home in Syria to Europe. Many of them carry their babies or small children with them.

Refugee crisis is still a big topic in Europe. As governments obviously not able to find a way to solve this problem, normal people have been working as volunteers to help refugees with food, clothing, toys for children and one woman even saved a refugee’s by taking him to her boat in the Aegean Sea.
