Another season of Jojo
Deutsche Welle launched its second season of “Jojo sucht das Glück” today at the International German Olympics (IDO) in Frankfurt. The innovative language-learning web soap is designed to give younger people an interesting look at life, love and language… German style. The first season premiered in July 2010 and has assembled an impressive fan base since then. The Jojo fan page on Facebook also gives German students insights into the life of their favorite German exchange student. The concept won over the jury of the German Network of E-Learning Protagonists (D-ELAN) and the association honored Jojo with its innovation prize at the start of 2011 – calling it a “well-rounded e-learning package with custom-tailored use of various media and learning formats”.
Andre Moeller, who is in charge of DW’s German courses, thinks that highlighting an international relationship is a great way to make learning grammar and vocabulary fun. In season two, they will also be exploring more cultural information.

New coproduction with Voice of Lebanon (VOL)
“What happened in Syria is a catastrophe,” said one of the guests in the first episode of talk show “Rabia Al-Shabab” – a coproduction from DW and Voice of Lebanon (VOL). It might just have set the tone for the entire series, which celebrated its premier on January 17. “Just like in our television talk shows, we are using radio to create a dialogue between young people in Germany and the Arab world,” said Rainer Sollich, head of the Arabic editorial team at DW.
The radio coproduction will be aired every Tuesday on VOL’s FM frequencies in Lebanon and in neighboring Syria. “We expect controversy and are looking for continued debate on our Arabic Facebook fan page,” said Sollich. Khaldoun Zeineddine from VOL and Yasser Abumuailek from DW hosted the first show, which highlighted the teamwork between the teams in Bonn and Beirut.
Voting starts for ‘Klick!’
As part of thie year's Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum, DW has organized a photo competition in association with Amnesty International. Internet users and fans now have the opportunity to vote for their favorites and select the 30 finalists – which will be shown at the Global Media Forum in Bonn from June 20-22.
"Klick! – Your View of Human Rights and Globalization" was open to professional and hobby photographers from around the world.
